Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe lived a very harsh life and you can see how it affected his writing. When Edgar Allan Poe was just two years old, his mother died. Right after his mother died, his father left him to live with the Allans. Edgar thought that he was cursed. Edgar Allan Poe's stories have to do with death in almost every one.

1829 As Edgar Allan Poe got older, his foster mother died.

1831 Edgar quarrels with John Allan. He joins the army.

John Allan dies

1836 Marries Virginia

1836-1840 Edgar writes for the paper

1841 Becomes editor of magazine

1842 Publishes stories such as the "pit and the pendelum" and "the masque of the red death"

1843 Pubblishes the "tell-tale heart"

1845 Publishes "the Raven"

1847 Virginia dies

1849 Poe dies and poem "Annabel Lee" is found
